Summary:
The Teleport Technician is responsible for remaining on rotational standby in order to plan, prepare and support all aspects of teleport services requirements. This role must also be ready to survey, install, commission, test, and maintain Palma teleport equipment as appropriate with a minimum supervision.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
* Provide technical support and resource to ensure delivery of services.
* Possible liaison with suppliers and other groups within Marlink to ensure the timely delivery of projects.
* Support/Perform installation, commissioning, and maintenance of satellite systems, including:
* Configuration, test and fault finding of satellite modems/Base band systems
* Configuration, test and fault finding of C, Ku and Ka band RF units
* Assembly of fixed antenna systems
* Assembly of distribution/combiner/amplifier/attenuator systems.
* Provide assistance to Juniors Technicians during the installation, commissioning, and maintenance of fixed and stabilized satellite systems.
* To provide technical support for Technicians level A, including on the job training where appropriate.
* Fabrication, set up, repair and cleaning of equipments. Acquisition and return of assets and spare equipment and maintaining adequate supply levels when necessary.
* Learn and where possible, assist with the problem solving of technical issues within the company.
* Comply with all safety requirements implemented by employer, customers, facility owners or venders involved in the employee’s daily tasks.
* Complete all required paperwork accurately, legibly and obtain proper approvals from job site location management.
* Communicate job progress to Job Manager/Supervisor.
Key Performance Metrics:
* % on-time and accurated tasks accomplished (Installations, migrations, configurations, tests, etc)
* % on-time preventive maintenance performed
* Minimum network shut down due equipment failure
* Correct support for entry level techs.
Requisitos mínimos
Experience/ Skills Required (Background knowledge, skills and attributes to perform the job competently):
* Knowledge of satellite communications systems and related equipments.
* Skillful in installing, commissioning, and fault-finding Satellite systems.
* Ability to assist Junior’s technicians with install, commission, and fault find stabilized satellite systems and equipment.
* Test Equipment – able to use a range of suitable test equipment including Spectrum Analysers, BERT testers, Powermeters etc. (With supervision if required)
* Able to install and fault find on typical Hub installations.
* Understanding of routers, TCP/IP, and radio systems preferred.
* Able to communicate in Spanish and English (written and verbal).
