?? The Role:

We are looking for a Process Engineer / Project Leader with experience in the biomethane or biogas sector, capable of leading the design of new projects and supporting the operation of existing plants. The selected candidate will be responsible for process simulations, technology and equipment selection, preparation of technical documentation, and coordination of multidisciplinary teams. In addition, they will contribute to the optimization of operating plants by troubleshooting biological issues and improving process performance.

Within its Biomethane division, Abei Energy is currently acquiring operational biogas/biomethane plants in Spain, Italy, Poland, and the USA. Additionally, it has a portfolio of more than 20 greenfield initiatives under development in these countries, with RTB (Ready to Build) projected starting in 2029. In the medium term, the company plans to expand into new countries, offering strong international growth potential for this role.




?? Your main responsibilities:

* Lead the process design of new biomethane projects, from concept development through basic and detailed engineering.
* Perform process simulations, mass and energy balances, and equipment sizing.
* Define specifications, evaluate alternatives, and select the most appropriate process technologies and equipment.
* Prepare and review PFDs, P&IDs, and all related process documentation.
* Support construction, commissioning, and performance testing on site.
* Provide technical assistance for operating plants, including troubleshooting and resolving biological process issues.
* Coordinate and guide multidisciplinary teams and external partners to ensure smooth project execution.
* Ensure compliance with European safety, environmental, and quality standards.
* Work closely with mechanical, electrical, automation, and environmental teams to deliver integrated, reliable solutions.
* Lead and coordinate cross-functional teams, taking responsibility for technical decisions and ensuring timely delivery of milestones.

?? What we’re looking for:

* Degree in Chemical, Enviromental or Process Engineering (or equivalent).
* Minimum of 5 years’ experience in process engineering, preferably in biomethane, biogas, waste-to-energy, or similar process industries.
* Strong knowledge of gas treatment and upgrading technologies, auxiliary systems, and biological process fundamentals.
* Proven ability to lead teams and drive projects from design to operational excellence.
* Problem-solving mindset and ability to support plant operations in real time.
