BCNatal | Fetal Medicine Research Center is looking for an enthusiastic individual to work as a Scientific Writer for a large research multidisciplinary research center in maternal fetal medicine contributing to the scientific communication of interesting projects such as the CaixaResearch Artificial Placenta project.

BCNatal | Fetal Medicine Research Center, directed by Prof. Eduard Gratacós, is a multidisciplinary research centre in fetal and perinatal medicine, recognised as one of the world’s best research teams in the field.
Accredited by the Spanish government as an excellence research centre, it works to find solutions to diseases of prenatal origin. The centre is ranked among the top international research groups in maternal-fetal medicine.
Main purpose of the job
• Writing new proposals to apply for new funding opportunities.
• Writing reports for funders for the on-going research projects.
• Producing technical reports for the on-going international research projects.
• Plan and follow up the schedules to deliver the different reports.
• Detect new funding opportunities.
• Write in clear, concise and accurate language that can be understood by the general public.
• Translating technical ideas and concepts to text.
• Meeting with researchers to plan the content of a document (research proposals) or publication.
• Reviewing and amending work in response to Principal Investigator feedback.
• Keeping up to date the PI’s CV.
• Keeping up to date the research center’s publication record.
• Reading and researching literature, e.g. scientific papers, journals, press releases and internet resources including social media.
Main duties and responsibilities
• Understand the nature of the scientific work that we produce.
• Conduct comprehensive literature searches to enhance their background understanding, and evaluate and analyze the information he/she will be writing about.
• Ensure that all deliverables are in accordance with regulations, standards, and guidelines.
• Schedule and organize meetings with the researchers to ensure good quality documents.
• Ensure prompt and efficient response to queries, acknowledging all communication, and ensuring efficient flow of information.
• Perform other duties as are within the scope, spirit and purpose of the job description as requested by the Principal Investigator, Scientific Manager or the Chief Investigator.
The successful candidate should hold a Science degree with demonstrable Professional Writing in Science, more specifics in the biomedical writing. They should have excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to prioritize and organize own workload and meet time-critical schedules.
Key Profile Requirements:
• Degree in scientific discipline (e.g., Biomedical Sciences, Medicine, Biology, Biotechnology, or related fields).
• A Master’s degree in Science Communication, Biomedical research, or a related field is highly valued.
• A PhD is highly desirable, especially with experience in biomedical research.
• At least 3-5 years of experience in scientific writing, preferably in a biomedical or clinical research.
• Essential experience in writing grant proposals, research reports, and scientific publications.
• Knowledge of identifying and applying for research funding opportunities at both national and international levels (e.g., EU Horizon, AGAUR IdC, DTS, etc.)
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to translate complex research concepts into concise and clear text, and to adapt the writing style for different audiences, from funding agencies to the general public.
• Ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary research teams.
• Essential fluent spoken and written English (C1-C2)
• Spanish and Catalan are required.
