The i2cat Foundation is looking for a Technology Specialist in European R&I programmes with experience in telecommunications and computing science especially in areas like artificial intelligence, data-driven solutions and edge-cloud computing. It is also helpful to know about IoT and wireless communications.

We offer a position in a dynamic team directly contributing to i2CAT's research and innovation strategy regarding applying for competitive funds and strengthening our presence in national and European research ecosystems.

Some responsabilities of the candidate:

• Identify and explore research collaboration opportunities and synergies in technical areas such as Artificial Intelligence, Big Data, IoT, Edge computing and some vertical sectors like Mobility, Industry, Health, Space, etc.


• Contribute to creating a prioritised map of funding opportunities in European, Catalan and Spanish programmes aligned to i2CAT's technical capabilities and long-term strategic goals.


• Oversee i2CAT's involvement in strategic research proposals ensuring coordination across different Research Areas within the organisation.


• Provide grant writing support of specific EU proposals sections such as research Impact.


• Represent i2CAT in some european associations (e.g. BDVA, ADRA, AIOTI, etc) to strengthen strategic positioning, build networks and capture future collaboration opportunities.


• Organization and participation in meetings with potential partners seeking synergies and consortiums, and engage in events such as infodays, brokerage events, fairs and congresses.

Where will you do it?

At i2CAT we already have an established ‘work-from-home’ policy for some time. You can work from home or from the office, whichever suits you best. We expect that you attend the office one day per week to stay connected with your team and to engage with other colleagues

If you decide to come to the office, we are located in Zona Universitària, next to the Campus Nord of the UPC, within a multidisciplinary and multicultural environment. It is a very well-connected area (metro, tram, bus) with bars and restaurants around.

Minimum requirements:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Telecommunications Engineering or Computer Science, or a related field.


• Experience participating in European research and innovation projects (H2020, HE) in any of its faces (scouting, execution, etc.) or experience in ICT pre-sale departments in relevant technologies (e.g. AI/ML, data management, IoT, continuum computing, etc).


• Familiarity with or direct participation experience in any European Partnership/Association such us BDVA, ADRA, AIOTI, ERTICO, ECSO, etc related to the Horizon Europe programme.


• English business fluent and Spanish knowledge. Excellent communication and presentation skills. Strategic thinking capabilities.


• General knowledge on digital technologies and its impact or application in some sectors (e.g. mobility, health, industry, logistics, etc)


• Highly motivated with a positive and enthusiastic attitude.

Nice to have:

• Proven experience in European proposal preparation (in any role).


• Experience in participating in projects funded by the EC, EDF, Digital, CEF or similar national programmes with a relevant role (technical manager, WP leader, task leader, innovation manager, etc).


• Catalan is also valuable
